About This Dog for Adoption

Phoebe Collie Cross's ideal home

Meet Phoebe, a loving and energetic lady, looking for a calm and understanding home where she can grow in confidence. She can be a little nervous around new environments and loud noises, so would benefit from a home with individuals who recognise her body language and can give her the space she needs. As such, she is best suited to a home with sensible teenagers, who can be understanding of her sensitive side. Phoebe can be apprehensive around boisterous pooches but enjoys the company of other dogs who possess a similarly calm and friendly character to her own. She would love to live with a well-suited canine chum or meet up regularly with them on her walks. Phoebe is happiest walking in quieter areas like woodlands and fields, where she can relax and explore. She does tend to get anxious around faster-moving traffic, so she’d do best on quieter roads. While she can be strong on the lead when nervous, she walks more calmly when she’s feeling at ease. Phoebe is still working on feeling comfortable with her harness but with time and positive reinforcement, she’ll soon be ready for harness walks again. She’s fully toilet trained and should adjust back into a routine quickly with a little support. As she settles into a new home, her alone time will need to be built up gradually.

Could you be Phoebe Collie Cross's perfect match?

Phoebe becomes increasingly affectionate as she gets to know you and will likely enjoy snuggling up with you on the sofa in the evenings. This clever girl has a great set of skills – she knows cues like sit, down, paw, spin, play dead, and “chin”. Learning new things is one of her most-loved pastimes, so she would be a brilliant companion to adopters who have plenty time to work with her on training. While Phoebe hasn't shown much interest in toys at the centre, she has played with balls on walks before, and once settled, she may start to engage more with toys in her new home. She’s a relaxed eater who enjoys her meals and is currently on a special prescription diet (Hills Z/D) due to allergies. Ultimately, this beautiful girl will thrive with a family who can provide mental and physical stimulation, with fun training, engaging walks, and food-based enrichment activities.

Springer Spaniel Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Springer Spaniel.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Springer Spaniel Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
